How Own Your HackerTube collects, uses and protects your information and the content on your curated site.

Who we are

Own Your HackerTube ("we", "us") is a service for building curated websites of links. Contact: hello@ownhackertube.cc.

What we collect

  1. Account information — your name, email address and sign-in details (including Google sign-in if you use it).
  2. Content you add — your site name, tagline and address, the links you save and the reasons you write. Anything on a published site is public and can be read, indexed by search engines and shared by anyone. Drafts are visible only to you.
  3. Link metadata — when you save a link we fetch the public page to read its title, description, cover image and author, and store that with your item.
  4. Payment information — Pro purchases are handled by a third-party payment platform. We never see or store card numbers.
  5. Usage and device data — pages visited, browser and device type and IP address, used for security, abuse prevention and improving the service.

How we use it

  • To run your site and show your published links to visitors.
  • To prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms and keep the service secure.
  • To activate paid plans and answer support requests.

We do not sell personal information. AI features such as scoring suggested links are rolling out; if they process your content we will say so here, and your reasons will not be used to train general-purpose AI models.

Service providers

We use hosting, database, email and analytics providers to operate the service, and a payment platform for paid plans. They process data only to provide their service.

Retention

Your content stays until you delete it or your account. Deleting a link removes it from your public site immediately. Cached copies in search engines or feed readers are outside our control.

Your choices

You can edit or delete your links and site at any time, and ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@ownhackertube.cc. Depending on where you live you may also have rights to access, correct or export your data.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. Analytics cookies, if enabled, are used only with your consent where required.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

We may update this policy. The "last updated" date above shows the latest version.
