Terms of Service

The rules for using Own Your HackerTube, publishing a curated site and linking to third-party content.

Last updated: 2026-11-02

Agreement

By using Own Your HackerTube you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

The service

You create a curated site, save links to third-party content and add your own reasons. Published items appear on a public page at ownhackertube.cc/s/yourname. The service is early and features change.

Your content

You keep the rights in the reasons and text you write. You give us permission to store, display and distribute them (including through your site's page and RSS feed) so the service can work. Link titles, descriptions and cover images come from the linked pages and belong to their owners; we show them as a preview with a link to the original.

You are responsible for what you publish and for having the right to publish it.

What you may not publish

  • Content that sexualises minors, or promotes harm to children.
  • Illegal content, fraud, phishing, malware or links to them.
  • Hateful, harassing or violent content, or content that doxxes or targets individuals.
  • Sexual or pornographic content.
  • Spam: mass-produced low-value pages, link schemes or sites built only to pass SEO value.
  • Content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights.

External links on published sites are marked nofollow.

Reporting and removal

Report a site or item to hello@ownhackertube.cc with the page address and a short description. We review reports promptly, remove content that breaks these Terms, and may suspend or close accounts. If you believe we removed something by mistake, reply to our notice and we will look again.

Accounts, plans and limits

You are responsible for your account. The Free plan has item limits shown on the Pricing page. Paid plans are activated after payment confirmation and may be activated manually during early access. Pricing, features and limits may change; changes do not affect a period you have already paid for.

Acceptable use

No automated scraping of the service, reselling access, attempts to bypass limits or security, or using the service to harass or deceive others.

Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue features. We try to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation.

Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Independence

Own Your HackerTube is independent and not affiliated with Andrej Karpathy, HackerTube, Hacker News, Y Combinator or YouTube.
